Jamey Haddad

Born in Cleveland Ohio, percussionist/drummer Jamey Haddad holds a unique position in the world of jazz and contemporary music. His musical voice transcends styles and trends, and the universal quality of his playing has attracted many international collaborations.

He has performed in the working bands of Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Osvaldo Golijov the Paul Winter Consort, and Betty Buckley; Dawn Upshaw and the Andalusian Dogs, and has performed with the great oud players/composers Simon Shaheen and Rabih Abou Khalil, as well as in the Middle East with Kazim El Sahir. In 2004 he traveled across the US with the Fez Sacred Music Festival Tour. 2005 recordings and performances include work with Osvaldo Golijov, Nancy Wilson, Paul Simon, Nguyen Le, Jerry Douglas, Bella Flek, Daniel Schnyder, Billy Drewes, Leo Blanco and Tino Derado. Recent performances include concerts featuring Jamey with Yo Yo Ma and the Boston and Chicago symphonies deputing the work of Osvaldo Golijov, also The Spirit of Fes US National Tour. Jamey currently is an associate professor at Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory in Boston, the Oberlin, Conservatory, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is a Fulbright Scholar and a multiple NEA grant recipient. After 25 years in New York, Jamey now makes his home in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
